More information

The SV 977D is a Class 1 Sound and Vibration meter designed for building acoustics, occupational noise and environmental noise measurements. The meter is a successor of SVAN 977A offering new 1/2” microphone MK255 offering wide frequency range from 3 Hz and excellent long-time stability of sensitivity.  The SV 977D has a built-in Bluetooth® interface for wireless connection with with smart-phone applications like Building Acoustics Assistant that extends measurement capabilities dedicated for building acoustics.

One unique feature of the SV 977D is ultrasound measurement band up to 40 kHz. The ultrasound band is normally considered as the frequency range above 20 kHz. Ultrasound is used in a number of industrial processes such as cleaning, drilling or welding as well as hospitals for medical procedures.

The SV 977D can be also used as the vibration level meter – simply by connecting a cable and a vibration sensor.

New generation sound level meters

The new SV 973 class 2 sound level meter, and the SV 971A class 1 sound level meter are two new generation models that comply with IEC 61672. They have a small size and weight as well as improved application compatibility via mobile apps, which is their main feature.

Main Features

1/1 and 1/3 octave on board!

frequency analysis, ultrasounds, wave recording

FREQUENCY ANALYSIS of the signal in 1/1 or 1/3 octave bands allows to determine the influence of high or low frequencies on overall values. With an optional microphone SV 977D provides analysis of the ULTRASOUNDS up to 40 kHz. The ultrasound band is normally considered as the frequency range above 20 kHz. Limits of permissible ultrasound levels are usually expressed in terms of Leq and Max values specified in 1/3 octave bands for 20 kHz, 25 kHz, 31.5 kHz and 40 kHz. SV 977D also offers options for time domain signal recording - recording the raw signal samples with defined frequency up to 48 kHz. Post-processing of high quality wave files (48 kHz, 24 bit) such as calculation of tonality is available in SvanPC++ program.

Class 1 Sound and Vibration Level Meter

Precision in accordance with IEC 61672-1:2013

The SV 977 Sound Level Meter meets class specifications for sound level meters in accordance to IEC 61672-1:2013. The meter uses detachable preamplifier and high quality omni-directional microphone, compliant to IEC61094-4. The wide linear operating range in accordance to IEC 61672 starts from 23 dBA. The meter works in temperatures from -10 °C to 50 °C. Following IEC 61672 the performance class of a sound level meter can be verified in periodic tests in accordance to IEC 61672-3.

Remote Communication

Bluetooth® interface for mobile application

The built-in Bluetooth® interface in SV 977 Sound Level Meter together with smartphone application, extends measurement capabilities with all the features offered by smartphones. The smartphone application helps the user to preview results in the form of time-history plots as well as numerical values. The size of the display of a mobile device makes it convenient to display spectrum views such as 1/3 octave analysis. For building acoustics, smartphone application helps the user in calculating the insulation in accordance with ISO 16283. Sound insulation results are presented on the display and in the form of a report compliant with the ISO requirements.

Main Applications

Occupational Noise

Noise measurements at work places

SV 977D can be used for measuring workers’ exposure to noise in a working environment in accordance to international and local standards such as ISO, OSHA etc. The instrument provides A-weighted and C-weighted levels as well as audio recording for noise sources recognition and 1/1 octave for selection of hearing protectors. The evaluation of results is supported by dedicated Supervisor software, that provides with ready reporting templates. Additional advantage is the ultrasound measurement capability that is used in a number of industrial processes such as cleaning, drilling or welding as well as hospitals for medical procedures

Measurement of acoustic insulation

SV 977D records the time history of spectra with millisecond accuracy which enables the calculation of RT60 results as well as calculation of sound insulation results. The mobile application Assistant supports sound level meters with the Bluetooth® interface and helps the user in calculating the insulation in accordance with ISO 16283. A project containing measurements from the source and receiving rooms for different sound source positions is created during the measurement. The project is saved in the memory of the sound meter along with the measurement files.

Upgrade to a monitoring station

SV 977D Class 1 sound level meter can be installed in a IP 65-rated case for outdoor noise measurements. The light-weight microphone protection kit can be easily installed on a mast with standard mounting threads. The case-type monitoring station uses a 4G modem for the remote communication with Internet. SvanNET, a connectivity service, supports the connection between PC and station. The SvanNET allows the usage of all types of SIM cards with the system, regardless if they have public or private IP. The connection over the SvanNET allows users to use a mobile phone or tablet to check the status of the noise monitoring station. Station supports an optional METEO module for assessment of weather conditions such as wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity, ambient pressure or rainfall.
